My grandma sent me a bunch of photos from the 70āsā¦
Many of the images had faded over time, leaving faces hard to see and the colors and patterns are strange and faded.
Working from these photos and finding a few in the public domain, I created mixed-media illustrations, leaving the faces blank, echoing the way aging photographs distort personal details while preserving the feeling of a moment.
By emphasizing the unusual color palettes, settings, and patterns of the era, this project explores nostalgia, memory, and the strangeness of looking back at family history through imperfect images.
